Full Moon Series #4

As I studied the sky, the moon emerged through the branches – that moment when clouds part just enough to reveal brilliant patches of blue behind the grey. The contrast between the dark silhouetted foliage and those luminous breaks in the sky was what drew me in. Working with oils to create translucent colours, I wanted to capture that atmospheric quality where the moon feels both present and obscured, the way it plays hide-and-seek on cloudy nights. There's something meditative about watching the same moon from the same spot month after month, seeing how differently it can appear depending on what's between you and it.
