Hunter’s Moon #1

October's Hunter's Moon came up huge and bright, framed by the jacaranda branches starting to bloom. The sky had this sweeping quality, bands of mauve and amber stretching across like brushstrokes. I framed the image to place the moon dead centre with the skeletal branches creating a natural border. The watercolour let me build those atmospheric layers – cool aqua around the moon transitioning to warmer earth tones at the edges. There's something primal about a late spring moon, that sense of new growth. The jacaranda's emerging purple framing the dramatic colours of the sky.
