True Blue Moon #2

Another blue moon, but this time I found an angle where the jacaranda's feathery leaves glowed like they'd absorbed moonlight. While the sky stayed cool – greys and soft blues – the foliage caught this warm luminescence, almost golden against the darker masses. I worked with watercolour to keep the leaves translucent where light passed through them, building up the denser shadows below. The moon itself stayed simple, letting the complex interplay of branches and leaves do the work. What interests me is how the same night, the same tree, can give you completely different paintings depending on where you stand and what you choose to emphasise. This one felt quieter, more contemplative than the first.
