Hunter’s Moon #3

This time the Hunter's Moon came up through smoke or haze, turning the entire sky a deep amber. The trees stood as pure silhouettes – no detail, just solid black shapes against that saturated orange glow. I found an angle where the branches created this maze of lines, each one cutting across the warm sky in a different direction. With watercolour, I could build up the intensity of that orange, darker at the top, nearly white around the moon itself. Spring in Sydney can bring dust in the air, or sometimes smoke from distant fires, and it creates this theatrical lighting. The graphic quality appealed to me – almost like a woodcut, where everything reduces to shape and contrast.
